Citizens Finance Senior Manager – National MidCorporate Banking in Johnston, Rhode Island

In the role of the Finance Senior Manager, you will be responsible for leading the financial decision support of the National MidCorporate segment of the Commercial Bank covering covering all areas of financial and management reporting, planning and analysis. In this role, you’ll develop solutions to complex business issues, collaborate with stakeholders across the Citizens franchise and contribute to the strategic direction of the business. You will serve as a strategic financial business partner for executive leadership, helping to drive key business initiatives and support from cross functional teams with high visibility and impact. Ideally, you have strong problem solving skills, bring a strategic mindset to business challenges and are adept at telling the financial story of a business at an executive level.

Primary responsibilities include

  • Partner with line of business leadership to create monthly earnings forecasts that reflect the anticipated net interest margin, fee income, operating expenses and credit provisions that align with the anticipated interest rate and economic scenarios.

  • Track the key drivers of changes in the commercial loan portfolio such as refinancings, new originations, changes to line utilization rates and prepayment speeds in order to inform forecasts of changes to the size of the balance sheet.

  • Support balance sheet optimization efforts to achieve the proper balance between liquidity, risk, pricing and returns. Identifying and tracking opportunities to redeploy capital is an important component of this effort by maintaining financial profiles of new credit originations as well as client exits in order to track progress of redeploying capital to more attractive opportunities.

  • Partner with business leadership to identify attractive industry sub-sectors where we should deepen the client coverage model to capture additional market opportunity.

  • Leadership of the annual budget and strategic planning processes, including the creation of financial reporting packages and documentation of key assumptions, reflecting the input of line of business management.

  • Prepare monthly financial performance reporting comparing results to forecast, budget and prior periods; a key deliverable is insightful variance commentary that highlights differences at a detailed driver level.

  • Maintain a strong control environment by completing the month-end financial close including the identification of financial issues, risks and opportunities and synchronizing the financial impacts in monthly forecasts.

  • Constantly scan and learn and apply new knowledge to transform core processes. Operate in an agile, flexible and adaptable manner.

Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related discipline.

  • 5+ years of experience in a finance, accounting or business decision support role.

  • Solid Excel financial modeling skills & experience

  • Knowledge of Essbase financial reporting platform highly preferred

  • Strong executive level communication skills

Hours & Work Schedule

  • Hours per Week: 40

  • Work Schedule: M-F (hybrid - 3 days in office)
